Transparent laptops

I had changed over the years, and had a sober reputation at BCG. I also had a reputation for giving solid advice about computers. Recently, our laptops had been upgraded to Windows XP. This was also the time the “transparent laptop” craze was rampant. Feeling fairly sure no one at BCG would be aware of this, I sent out a mail, towards the end of the day, on Friday 1st April 2005. (That should’ve given it away, but it didn’t.) ...

SciAm gives up

Scientific American gives up. In retrospect, this magazine’s coverage of socalled evolution has been hideously one-sided. For decades, we published articles in every issue that endorsed the ideas of Charles Darwin and his cronies. True, the theory of common descent through natural selection has been called the unifying concept for all of biology and one of the greatest scientific ideas of all time, but that was no excuse to be fanatics about it. ...
